# Jamia Masjid Islamic Centre

Jamia Masjid Islamic Centre is one of West London's oldest Islamic institutions, established in 1965 on Townsend Road in Southall. The mosque serves the Muslim community with a particular focus on traditional Sunni Islam teachings, following the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jammah doctrine.

Led by Qari Mohammad Amin Chishti, who has served as Imam since 1984, the centre provides comprehensive religious and educational services beyond standard daily prayers. The mosque is deeply embedded within the Indo-Pakistani Muslim community, organising significant celebrations throughout the Islamic calendar including Milaad-un-Nabi (Prophet Muhammad's birthday), which the centre pioneered in Southall in 1987, and Ghiyarhaveen Sharif. These events commemorate the lives of Awliya Allah and other important Islamic figures.

What distinguishes Jamia Masjid is its four-decade track record of consistent community leadership under Qari Chishti's guidance, combined with its role as a cultural anchor for the local South Asian Muslim population. The centre balances strict adherence to classical Sunni teachings with culturally meaningful celebrations that resonate with its congregation. Its longevity and stability in serving multiple generations reflects deep community trust and integration within Southall's diverse neighbourhoods.
