The Caversham Muslim Association is a community-focused Islamic centre serving the Muslim population of Reading and surrounding areas. Established by local Muslim residents, CMA operates from Caversham Hall and provides comprehensive religious, educational, and social programmes for all age groups and demographics.
The organisation offers structured learning pathways across its community. Children benefit from after-school Quranic classes run twice weekly during term time, taught by experienced, qualified instructors. Adults and elderly members access weekly knowledge sessions led by the resident Imam, including Ilm circles, Mutoon study groups, and dedicated Islamic Essentials courses for converts. The centre actively promotes community cohesion through regular social gatherings, Eid celebrations, and family events that strengthen bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood.
CMA distinguishes itself through its inclusive, multi-generational approach to Islamic practice and community building. Separate programmes for women, men, and children ensure culturally appropriate engagement—women's groups encompass social events, arts and crafts, and health initiatives, whilst men's programmes focus on sports, fitness, and wellbeing activities including football and badminton. Rather than operating as a transactional service provider, CMA functions as a holistic community hub dedicated to spiritual development, practical Islamic knowledge, and social welfare.
