Lincoln Central Mosque & Cultural Centre is a purpose-built mosque and community hub serving Muslims across Lincoln and surrounding areas. Established in 1981, it functions as a spiritual centre, educational institution and social support organisation for a diverse congregation representing approximately 40 nationalities.
The organisation operates as a welcoming place of worship where five daily prayers are led by resident Imams, with additional Quranic recitation during Ramadan Tarawih prayers. Beyond religious services, the mosque runs an extensive Madrasah programme with 120 students across nine classes, providing Islamic education to young people Monday through Friday.
What distinguishes Lincoln Central Mosque is its commitment to broader community engagement. As Lincolnshire's only purpose-built mosque, it regularly hosts school visits for Religious Education curriculum support, enabling students to learn about Islam firsthand. The organisation operates a weekly food bank since 2020, distributing not only food items but also hygiene kits and female hygiene products to local residents in need.
The centre provides comprehensive support for new Muslims, including welcoming integration and ongoing guidance. Currently undertaking an ambitious Orchard Street Mosque Project, the organisation demonstrates commitment to expanding its facilities and services.
