Tawheed Newcastle Islamic Centre is an Islamic community organisation founded in 1998, serving Muslim families and believers across the North East of England. Based in Newcastle upon Tyne, the centre provides a comprehensive range of religious, educational and social programmes rooted in Islamic tradition.
The centre operates daily congregational prayers at appointed times and organises major religious observances throughout the Islamic calendar, including Ramadan gatherings with Quranic recitation, lectures and communal meals, as well as commemorations of significant Islamic occasions such as Muharram and various Eids.
What distinguishes Tawheed Newcastle is its commitment to inclusive, multilingual education. The centre serves families from over ten different nationalities, delivering most programmes in English and Farsi, ensuring accessibility across diverse communities. Their structured educational approach caters to different age groups: children aged 5-15 receive instruction in Quranic studies, Islamic jurisprudence, ethics and Islamic history through age-appropriate curricula, whilst older students engage with the Pre-Hawzah course—a more advanced theological programme developed by the Islamic Seminary of England. The centre also offers Farsi language classes for UK-born children of Farsi-speaking families and Islamic study classes specifically designed for mothers.
Staffed entirely by devoted volunteers, Tawheed Newcastle provides most classes free of charge, making Islamic education accessible regardless of financial circumstances.
