Newcastle University Islamic Society is a student-led organization dedicated to serving the Muslim student community at Newcastle University. As the largest active society on campus, they create a vibrant and inclusive space for Muslim students to connect, learn, and grow both spiritually and socially.
The society operates from a dedicated prayer space in the King George VI Building, which features separate wudu facilities, a prayer room for both brothers and sisters, a kitchen, and a library. This hub hosts all five daily congregational prayers, Friday prayers, and serves as a gathering point for community events and committee meetings.
Their programming is comprehensive and diverse. Members can engage in weekly Quran reflection sessions led by speakers, free Hifdh circles focused on Quran memorization, and specialist-led Qaida circles for sisters learning Quranic fundamentals. The society also hosts a fortnightly discussion series exploring the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and organizes regular social events and sports activities for both male and female members.
