# London Bridge Islamic Centre

London Bridge Islamic Centre is a community-led initiative established to address the prayer facility gap in central London's financial district. Currently operating a dedicated Friday prayer space, the centre serves Muslim professionals, workers and residents across London Bridge, Borough, Bankside, the City and surrounding areas who previously faced significant challenges attending Jummah prayers during their limited lunch breaks.

The organisation was founded in response to repeated requests from local Muslims unable to access nearby mosques within their break times. Existing multi-faith rooms at hospitals, cultural institutions and educational buildings proved inadequate, accommodating only 5-10 people and lacking proper Islamic prayer facilities.

What distinguishes London Bridge Islamic Centre is its strategic, phased approach to community development. Beyond providing immediate Friday prayer services, the group is actively fundraising and sourcing property to establish a permanent masjid and comprehensive community centre serving people of all backgrounds. Their vision encompasses not just religious facilities but educational and social services for the broader London Bridge community.

The centre operates under the administration of Justice For A Better World and actively welcomes in-kind support, sponsorship and professional expertise from volunteers. They remain focused on their mission to create an inclusive spiritual and educational hub in an underserved area, supported by Islamic principles of charitable giving and community development.
