Al-Furqan Mosque is Glasgow's second purpose-built mosque and one of the largest in the city, located in the West End. Founded by UKIM Glasgow, it serves the local Muslim community and beyond with a distinctive multi-denominational approach that welcomes Muslims from all backgrounds and traditions.
The mosque operates as a comprehensive community hub extending far beyond worship. Its educational arm, Al-Furqan Islamic School (established 1982), provides Quranic and Islamic instruction to Muslim youth, emphasizing values that enable young people to thrive within secular society whilst maintaining Islamic principles. The organisation runs dedicated youth programmes for ages 8-18, focusing on character development and creating engaged community members.
Beyond education, Al-Furqan addresses pressing community needs through its Ageing Well Project, which facilitates cross-cultural care services for elderly Muslims, and its Social and Welfare Committee, which provides support both locally and internationally. The outreach team actively educates the wider Glasgow community about Islam's true message, whilst the Tarbiyya programme offers personal development training at individual and group levels.
